Washington DC, January 6, 2021

Seriously, folks, Democrats try to frame Republicans as racist, homophobic, misogynistic hate-mongers. In fact, Hillary Clinton called them a “basket of deplorables” and described them as “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic.” But what my family saw in Washington DC on January 6, 2021 was a host of many ethnic groups, cultures, and colors all getting along together and supporting a common cause. Republicans are more diverse than what the Democrats want people to believe.

The atmosphere at the rally was upbeat. It felt like a Fourth of July celebration. No fights broke out at Trump’s speech. No cars were overturned, no buildings set on fire. We weren’t there for that.

We were there because we were very concerned and, yes, upset, by the fraud that was witnessed during the 2020 election. What was more disconcerting was the way the evidence was brushed aside and suppressed. We came to make a last-ditch attempt to get our representatives to understand that we wanted the allegations of fraud to be taken seriously. We came to, in the words of President Trump, “march over to the capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make (our) voices heard.”

Yes, some very bad things happened around and inside the Capitol. But before you take the mainstream media’s narrative as gospel truth, take some time to talk to people who were there, who saw it first-hand. Go find the videos that have finally been released and see the whole story, not the edited snippets that the Establishment wants you to see. Then decide what you believe.

But I will say this: had a real insurrection taken place, the insurrectionists would have been heavily armed with guns (aren’t Republicans the ones always concerned about their gun rights?), and a LOT of people would have been shot and killed. As it turned out, only one person died of gun violence, and she was an UNARMED PROTESTER. Insurrection my foot!  Like I said, go look up the recently released video and get all the facts before you buy into the Establishment narrative. At worst, it was a protest in which a small minority of the literally (no exaggeration) hundreds of thousands of protestors did some bad things. Arguably there was far less violence, far less deaths, and far less destruction of property than any of the George Floyd riots. But don’t take my word for it. Go look up the recently released videos and see for yourselves.

Southeast Texas Renaissance Faire

This is a new Ren Faire, located near Kirbyville, TX. There’s a link to the web page on my Links page.

Dinosaur Track Fieldtrip, South San Gabriel River, TX 2007

A trail of 11 Acrocanthasaur tracks in the bed of the South San Gabriel river, just north of Leander, TX. If you look at Google Maps, you can see an Historical Landmarks pin labeled Dinosaur Tracks Fossil west of the Highway 183 bridge over the river. There appears to be a parking spot on Green Valley Drive, just west of Hwy 183, at the trail head that leads to the dinosaur tracks. The parking spot and hiking trail did not exist when we visited in 2007. Check it out, but be careful if construction is going on.

Sherwood Forest Faire, March 2011

Take Hwy 290 east out of Austin, TX for a short jaunt to McDade, TX. There you will find a marvelous site where you can actually travel back in time to the enchanted woods of Sherwood Forest in Merry England! Meet with his majesty, King Richard; her royal highness, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine; and yes, even Lord Loxley a.k.a Robin Hood and his merry men!
